I love garlic, in fact we use a lot of it in most of our dishes. Do you know that garlic can fight certain illnesses? I read that garlic is considered as the "poor man's penicillin", as it contains many antimicrobial compounds. Just like leeks, onions, and other Allium vegetables, garlic shows promise of protecting against gastrointestinal and colorectal cancer. As for its reputation as a heart helper, studies are mixed, but one recent Tufts University study on agesd garlic extract suggest that it may indeed help prevent cardiovascular disease.
Uses of garlic - spread roasted garlic on crusty bread; saute it and add in sauces; use it raw in hummus and salad dressing.
